SEMEDFIRES’s project team from European University Cyprus – CERIDES participated in this year’s edition of the European Researcher’s night in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Every year, the “European Researchers’ Night”, is a pan-European event taking place on the last Friday of September. ERN’s aims are to bring research and researchers closer to the public; promote excellent research projects across Europe and beyond; increase the interest of young people in science and research careers; and showcase the impact of researchers’ work on people’s daily lives, all through fun and inspiring ways!
The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions public event. It displays the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives in fun, inspiring ways and in 2023 it took place in 26 countries.
The European Researchers’ Night aims to
- bring research and researchers closer to the public
- promote excellent research projects across Europe and beyond
- increase the interest of young people in science and research careers
- showcase the impact of researchers’ work on people’s daily lives
The European Researchers’ Night attracts each year more than 1.5 million visitors in Europe and beyond.
This year’s event in Cyprus, was organized by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation. The central theme of the 2023 event was the EU Missions, emblematic actions with ambitious but achievable goals, to address the biggest societal challenges. The titles of the five distinguished missions are Adaptation to Climate Change, Cancer, Healthy Oceans Healthy Seas and Healthy Coasts and Inland Waters, Climate Neutral and Smart Cities, Soil Health and Food. The event took place at the State Exhibition in Nicosia.
The EUC-CERIDES team presented the SEMEDFIRE project to the visitors of the event with various fire research-related activities.
