The activities of the specific SET under Work Package 6 is the last exchange visit of the SEMEDFIRE project. It will also conclude the first half of the WP6 planned actions, lead by the General Direction of Civil Protection and Crisis Management (DGSCGC) and Nimes Metropole in France.
The two French advanced partners will visit Cyprus during the first week of December to deliver the scheduled actions of their Work Package and complete the first stage of knowledge, experience, best practices and data exchange on fire management with the project coordinator EUC-CERIDES.
In an effort to enhance the exposure and outreach of the last Staff Exchange Visit, the project partners decided to combine the scheduled actions with the Nicosia Risk Forum of 2024. The Forum will take place on the 4th and 5th of December and its key theme is “Strengthening the Disaster Resilience of the Mediterranean Region: Safety, Security, and Climate Crisis Challenges”. It is expected to bring together an impressive array of experts, academics, government representatives, industrial and societal stakeholders in civil protection, disaster and crisis management, wildfire, safety, security and climate. DGSCGC will present to the forum participants valuable information about the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and the Host Nation Support Guidelines. Following the completion of the Staff Exchange Visits of the project in December 2024, the SEMEDFIRE Advanced Partners and the co-ordinator EUC-CERIDES, have planned the remaining two field exercises and one Hands-on Short Course until April 2025. The upcoming actions will conclude the scheduled visits, courses, trainings and exercises and will lead the project to its last 6-month phase until December 2025.
